Gregg Hymowitz serves as a Trustee of the Hymowitz Children's Education Foundation, which works to enhance children's programs.  The Hymowitz Children's Education Foundation sponsors the New York Knicks Poetry Slam Program.

By bringing together poetry and the popularity of hip-hop, the New York Knicks Poetry Slam encourages high school students to express themselves through the written and spoken word.  It provides opportunities for these young adults to use their poetic gifts to pursue higher education.

In 2004, Gregg Hymowitz was honored by the Governor's Committee on Scholastic Achievement for his work towards promoting academic excellence in New York City, through creative curriculum beginning at the elementary and pre-school levels.
